Environmental Policy
Durham School of English recognises that it has a responsibility to the environment. We are committed to reducing our environmental impact and continually improving our environmental performance. We will encourage students and teachers to do the same.
CO2 (Carbon Dioxide) Emissions
Statistics indicate that flights around the world account for around 2.5% of global carbon production. We will offset the carbon dioxide you create when you fly to the UK (carbon footprint) by making a donation to a carbon offsetting project. We use www.co2nsensus.com to do this. (The donation is included in the course fee.)
We will calculate your carbon footprint by taking into account the length of your flight.
We will make a donation to a carbon offsetting project
Energy
We will seek to reduce the amount of energy used as much as possible.
Lights and electrical equipment will be switched off when not in use.
Heating will be adjusted with energy consumption in mind.
The energy consumption and efficiency of new products will be taken into account when purchasing.
Water
We will provide free tap water so that students don't need to buy bottled water.
Paper
We will seek to buy recycled and recyclable paper products.
We will reuse and recycle all paper where possible
