By road
Durham city centre is only two miles from the A1 motorway. Leave the motorway at Junction 62 and follow the A690 to Durham.

Car journey times (approx):
•  London - 5 hours
•  Edinburgh - 3 hours
•  Newcastle - 30 minutes


There are daily coach services  from most major cities. The school is a short walk from Durham bus station. 

Coach journey times (approx):
•  London, Victoria Bus Station - 7 hours
•  Edinburgh - 4 hours

By rail
Durham railway station is on the main East Coast train line between Edinburgh and London.  Trains from London depart from Kings Cross Station. There are also connections to Manchester Airport, Birmingham, Sheffield and Leeds.  We can meet you at the Durham station if you let us know when you are arriving.

•  London, Kings Cross Station - 3 hours
•  Edinburgh - 2 hours
•  Newcastle - 15 minutes

By air
Durham is a 30 minute drive from Newcastle Airport and a 40 minute drive from Durham Tees Valley. Both airports have regular domestic and international flights. If you are traveling from Newcastle Airport by public transport, you need to take the Metro to Central Station, once there you can travel by train to Durham. If you are coming from Durham Tees Valley Airport, you can use the free Sky Express bus service to get to Darlington railway station.  It takes about 15 minutes to travel from Darlington to Durham by train.

By sea
There is a ferry service between Newcastle and Amsterdam.

follow  -  to go along a road, river etc in the same direction as it does domestic flight -  a flight within a country - not international
public transport  -  buses, trains etc that everyone can use. The American word is public transportation. ferry -  a boat that makes short regular journeys between two or more places
